Description:

When the smell of freshly baked bread permeates the air, you can't wait to slice that first piece. The knife you need usually comes with a serrated or scalloped edge. A serrated knive stays sharper longer because the cutting edge between the points does not come in contact with the cutting board. This is the ideal knife for cutting bread or any other food of soft substance with a tough skin or crust.

Features:

8-inch serrated blade, great for slicing bread

High-carbon stainless-steel blade ice-hardened for superior strength

Sturdy, black molded polypropylene handle

Dishwasher-safe

Lifetime warranty

5Slicing BreadJun 12, 2000

After buying a bread machine, we now no longer buy our bread. Everyone (children and adults) cuts their own bread, at the table, to the slice thickness they prefer. With my old bread knives, the slices quite often came out looking like an ocean surface (waves and all). After upgrading to this Henckel (to match my other Henckel knives), we can now all cut straight slices. It doesn't matter if the bread just came out of the bread machine (yum) or if the bread was baked yesterday. No longer is the French bread (hard crusts) squashed while we try to slice it. This is definitely the "best thing since sliced bread"!

4Great utility slicer, so-so for breadSep 05, 2000
By Ralph Bodenner
This knife's best at slicing tomatoes and other veggies. It's a bit short for cutting big peasant loaves, and the straight blade makes it harder to cut at an angle down through the bread, since the sharp point, while great for starting a cut through an obstinate veggie skin, can get stuck in your cutting board. The serrations work great, however, slicing through both crust and soft inner breadness.

5Great bread knifeJan 16, 2011

Bought a Henckels Twin Four Star set...and it didn't have the 8-inch bread knife. So, had to buy this separately. It's a fantastic knife. And really makes slicing bread easy and convenient.

5Love it!Nov 13, 2010

This was a replacement for an item my wife and I received as a wedding gift almost 20 years ago. It was part of a set, and it disappeared without a trace sometime in the last year. It was sorely missed, because we used it often. Although technically it is a bread slicer, it is equally adept at slicing everything from tri-tip to fruits and vegetables. All I can say is, we're glad it's back, and welcome home!
