Description:

Craftsmanship has been a tradition at Wusthof for over 190 years. Quality and precision have always been the standard that we measure our knife by and our Gourmet line of stamped German knives take precision to a new level. Each knife in this line is cut from a piece of steel using a laser beam to make a perfect blade. Comfortable to hold and razor-sharp, the 7-in. Deli Knife cuts slices of cheese, meat and sandwiches with ease. The offset blade lets you get even slices in a single motion, especially with harder foods that require a little more leverage. The blade is slightly serrated so you leave food intact. It also provides ample clearance between the knuckles and the cutting board..

Features:

7-Inch bread knife with raised handle for comfortable slicing

Made of high-carbon, stainless-steel blade

Encases full-tang, 3-rivet, poly handle

Hand washing recommended

Dishwasher-safe, but hand washing recommended

5Percfect knifeOct 14, 2002
By Bob E. Gasper "bg"
I bought this knife because of a great review in The New York Times. Every word of it is true. You will return to this knife over and over. It will be THE knife that you always reach for.

2Nice knife, but falls short of "Classic" QualitySep 08, 2003

I got this knife as a "Gold Box" item. I expected it would be the same well designed full tanged knife as the rest of my Wusthof "Classic" knives (I have 8). It is not, and it doesn't have the same balance and heft that I've learned to expect from the Classic line. None the less this is a good bread knife, I'm am concerned about how long it will hold an edge however. I do prefer my 9" Classic bread knife. On the upside I find I cut bread more evenly with the offset handle.

5love this knifeDec 20, 2005

I got mine here at some super sale, probably a friday sale. I would not usually be able to justify the cost of this knife.

I had never used one, just noticed one in a kitchen someone I know to buy the best of everything.

My family loves a good loaf of crusty bread sliced thin, and this knife is just perfect.

The knife is now two years old, and it cuts bread like it was new. I would guess it will still be years before it will need sharpening.

5Excellent all-purpose knifeJun 20, 2009
By CraftyOne
I have owned on of these knives for 5 years... learned about it when a shadowed a chef in a professional kitchen (I was looking at going to culinary school). This knife stays sharp forever (with and occasional run over a steel) and is perfect for prepping vegetables (anything that can be sliced or diced). The only cutting task this knife is not good for is mincing, since it has a serrated blade (I highly recommend a Wusthof Classic Santuko 7inch for this purpose). Oh and it cuts bread like a champ! I'm on Amazon at this time ordering another... this knife gets so much use in my house it is always dirty.

In reference to the review by "A customer". This knife is the "Gourmet" series, if you like the feel of the "Classic" series, this knife can be purchased in an 8 inch version for a few more dollars. IMHO the Gourmet is fine, because unlike other styles of knives, a serrated knife will eventually wear out if you use a sharpening steel on it (which is necessary to keep it perfectly sharp).

If you enjoy cooking, this knife will become your best friend.
