First BlenderMay 28, 2001
By Ben Foo My girlfriend had wanted a blender for a long time. Finally she bought a Hamilton-Beach 12spd blender which worked well, but didn't crush ice very well. It was still a good blender and served her well. One day her roommate broke her blender and didn't offer to replace it. So I took it as an opportunity to replace my girlfriend's old one (a 12spd Hamilton-Beach) with an even better one. I don't know much about blenders and never bought one previously so I had to do some research. The criteria I had for the new blender was ability to crush ice since my girlfriend likes to make frozen drinks. Price and reliability was also a factor. I also wanted to get something in "chrome" finish because I think they are classy looking. The number of speeds weren't important since I think they all do the same thing. After doing some research, I came to the conclusion that Waring was one of the better brands available. I decided on the Waring Kitchen Classic Chrome blender and I must say that it was a great choice. The blender works great for smoothies and is great for crushing ice. It does everything that I expected and it looks great on the countertop. The lid fits perfectly and is not hard to put on or off. Speeds were perfect, just "hi" and "lo"....that's all you really need. The only complaint I have is that the glass container sits a little loose on the blender. The great thing about that is that it is easy to put on, but it also feels too easy to lift off. Conclusion: Awesome blender that does everything as expected and looks great.

I've enjoyed this blender.Aug 15, 2001
I bought one as a birthday present for myself three years ago. It's almost exactly the ones my grandmother and mother got rid of to replace with cheap plastic ones--they thought it was too heavy. They had theirs for years, used them a lot, and they were still working just fine when they replaced them. I have my grandmother's Waring Blender Cookbook that came with hers when she got it after WWII. Cool. It will do everything you want it to except it's not too hot at crushing large ice cubes. I have never experienced any problems with the motor. It's also easy to clean if you fill it 1/4 full of water, a couple of drops of detergent, and blend. I have used it for gazpacho, daquiris, milkshakes, salvaging lumpy gravy, juicing all kinds of fruit (I don't even peel oranges)and vegetables, etc. Just don't drop that heavy glass container on your foot!

Okay blender, looks better than it functionsNov 05, 2003
By Xochitl We couldn't find the rubber gasket to replace in our old blender, so we requested and got this for one Christmas. It matched our kitchen, but doesn't match up to the old blender. It's not good at making pesto or other heavier sauces. It's good for whipping up drinks, but so far, not much else. I just tried to make a chocolate frosting, and the Joy of Cooking says you can do it in a blender, but I had to put it in a bowl and hand whip it. Form over function. Also, difficult to clean.

What a disappoinmentJan 26, 2002
By judy I have owned this blender for 6 months. I have used it to blend diet drinks and milkshakes. I used it today to make a thick milkshake and it died on me. I have bought much cheaper blenders in the past and they have outlasted this blender by far. I plan to stick with the cheaper blenders from now on.

A true warhorse of a blenderSep 11, 2006
By NYC Small Business Owner My mother gave this to us 14 years ago and the only thing we have had to replace is the rubber gasket which lasted 10 years. I make hot blended soups, frozen drinks, frozen smoothies, humus, milkshakes and salad dressings. No problems at all. It is an amazing product.
