Not as nice as the photosNov 02, 2010
By RDKNYC I ordered this set for our everyday and formal use. I was very dissapointed when I received them, as they really looked nothing like the photo. The flatware had some sharp-ish edges, and the hollow spots were dirty. The weight wasnt very substantial and they felt cheap. They are nothing like the stunning Wallace Grand Baroque in Sterling. They should try again. This stainless set is not worth it. AND, it didnt include the box!!
EXCELLENT FOR STAINLESSJan 15, 2012
By PARTICULAR I've had sterling and it's wonderful....with the exception that it requires constant upkeep. It's fun to have a similar pattern in stainless...similar. There is NOTHING like sterling, but this stainless pattern is pretty, consider it a "flattened" baroque, the weight is excellent for stainless (not that weightless tinny stuff you can find in stainless. The knives are one piece and have an elegant slender shape and a good feel, the handles do not feel hollow as a lot of stainless does. The soup spoons are not quite as large as I have had in the past....but how much soup do you need to put in your mouth at one time? The forks and spoons have loops in the handle pattern which is a surprise as stainless generally doesn't have much foo foo. These items are not as heavy as the knives but are a good weight for stainless. Like the other reviewer I prefer real heavy flatware, but with stainless there are going to be limitations. I use a very plain white china and this looks good with it. It's a little elegant (hey, its stainless) and it's fun and most of all it's E A S Y. I understand if the earlier buyer thought they were getting the chest, I hate that kind of advertising too. My 65 piece set came in a standard cardboard type box and was fine (nor was it dirty). What you get is a little better "look" than regular stainless (if you want something foo foo) but it's not Grand Baroque Sterling. But which would you rather have, a 65 piece set of Grand Baroque and constant polishing and worrying about each piece or a trip to Hawaii. No choice for me. This set is great.
