A Perfect Match for my smaller yard.Jul 20, 2011
By Road Warrior
"J.B."
This is the perfect size for my smaller yard and does a great job of keeping us cool through these unusually hot summer months. We had a similar one prior to this that lasted about 6 years. I leave them up through the winter with about 8 to 12 inches of water in it. They are, however alot of work to set up properly and you should follow all the directions completely. The hardest part of the installation is digging out the grass and leveling the ground. The directions to my old pool said to install cement blocks (patio bricks) into the dirt beneath the sidewall, and to level them so that the sidewall rests on these. I would put them about every 4 to 5 feet around the perimeter.I put down a layer of sand, then heavy plastic. I also put about a 16 inch wide ribbon (4 to 6 inches deep) of round stones around the outside of the side wall to absorb splashed out water. The more care you take in the installation and leveling will increase the longevity of the pool.

Cheaply priced pool, cheap quality tooAug 20, 2011
By G. A. PRIEBE I bought this pool about two years ago for roughly the same price it's going for now. $650. I've had so many problems with it...where to being:
Design: The pool itself was not at all as pretty as the pictures show. More of an unfinished, drab, gray color with some design. Seriously, it wasn't blue at all. Not light blue, not dark blue, nothing. Gray all around. Not very appealing. I felt quite cheated, but I got over it.
Installation: Installation was fairly easy, with the usual painful tasks of leveling the ground and setting up it up. However, the screws that hold the spines up to the top metal lip do NOT stay in their respective holes whatsoever. They kept, and still do, strip out. I tried to replace them with slightly larger screws, but that didn't help. What helped? Pretty blue duct tape, but I shouldn't have had to resort to that.
Equipment: The wimpy little filter/skimmer system that comes with the pool is horrible. You would be insane to think this little device could filter and circulate the entire pool. I had to resort to buying a nice filtration system that cost me around $250. Not everything needed for my filter system was shipped either. I was missing screws, plates, lids, etc. Swim N Play was nice about sending me the missing items, but I still had to pay shipping on them. Ridiculous.
Also, there is no way on this green Earth to be able to hook a vacuum to your filter. Impossible. Just not in its design. Instead, you will have to buy a hoseless vacuum that runs off of batteries. Which, honestly, I prefer the hoseless, battery powered pool vacuum anyways. I recommend the Pool Blaster Max HD. It is simply amazing. The port hole that comes with the pool is a neat idea until after the first year. You can take off the outer ring and clean it, but the only way to clean the inner surface is to physically remove the liner itself just to get to it. They can become quite nasty after one pool season. For the liner itself, I haven't had one tear or hole or anything in two years. That's one positive aspect of this review. But probably the only one.
Using the pool: Now, this is just personal preference, but if you plan on adults using this pool, I would highly recommend buying a deeper pool. 42 inches is NOT a lot at all. You can't fill your pool up completely, probably six inches below the top. So, in reality, you are only swimming in 36 inches of water. That's just three feet. It barely came to my waist. For kids, however, it would be a perfect size. Adults, however, forget it.
Overall, I'm definitely going to heavily research before purchasing my next pool. I am 99% positive that I will not be purchasing a Splash Pool from Swim N Play again.

What a mess!Apr 02, 2012

This product should be taken off Amazon's site. Cheap, inferior, waste of money. Horrible to set up, leaked, collapsed under it's own weight. I feel stupid for even having considered buying it. What a mess.

Good pool for the price.Jul 05, 2011
By B. Andrews This was a good purchase overall, though horrible to set up. We live in the Ozarks so it is all hills. Had to dig out the rock hill by hand to make it level. Then when putting it up, we found you really have to stretch the sides to make them fit in the track. We ended up bolting the sheet metal together, then working it into the track. Also, make sure to put some tension on the liner as you are putting it around the pool or it will not fit all the way around. It is done now and works great. We used Dow foam and foam "Pool Cove" in the bottom instead of sand. Sure made a great surface for our rocky area.

12 ft. Swim and Play Splash Pool a Waste of Time, Money and ResourcesJul 12, 2011
By Lm Very inferior product. Paper thin vinyl liner of a gauge of vinyl that is much thinner than what is used on even the cheapest inflatable infant pools. Poor construction, appears to be designed to go straight to the garbage - or to encourage the consumer to purchase another pool after throwing money away on this overpriced one! Filter has cardboard like gasket. Filter and liner designed so you must cut a hole in the paper thin vinyl with a knife to create access for the filter on this round pool. Guess what happens next? Pool leaks and is not constructed well enough to withstand even gentle splashing and play. Metal surround is constructed of very flimsy metal with sharp edges - particularly those surrounding the filter access point.
