This FIR Sauna Blanket will have you Swimming in Your SweatDec 21, 2008

The FIR sauna blanket utilizes far infrared rays (FIR) to heat the body from the inside out as opposed to a typical sauna, which just heats the air around you. This process is ideal to a typical sauna in that it enhances detoxification of the body and the release of heavy metals.
Using this product now for approximately three weeks, I can say that the sauna blanket works very well. You will definitely sweat and you will feel like you've had a deep cleansing at the end of a 30min session. You will also have the feeling of a vigorous workout as your heart beats faster. Here, you get a cardiovascular workout that's similar to jogging 2.5 miles. You do lose weight and calories. The weight loss is due mainly to water loss and will be regained immediately after replenishing the body with water. However, the calorie loss is real and can contribute to material weight loss over time.
The only criticism I have of the sauna blanket is that it works too well; meaning that you will be literally swimming in your own sweat, which obviously doesn't feel too good. You actually feel like you are in a mini pool. And since your pores are opened and the skin is supper absorbent, you just take in those toxins that you just released by laying in the sweat-pool. The key is to immediately jump in the shower right after the session is complete. So, that's why I only give it four stars.
In the future, it would be nice if these type of blanket saunas could employ some kind of drainer that can perhaps connect to a cup or bowl; this way it can capture the pools of sweat so that you're not feeling like you're taking a bath in toxic water. It would also greatly improve the cleanup process. The other alternative is to purchase a walk-in, sit-down sauna, which is usually a lot more money.
Overall the product does what it claims and once you take a shower you do feel the difference. If you can stand the sweat, so to speak, then I would highly recommend this product.

My husband and I own a day spa and this has been a wonderful adjunct to many of our other services. For the gentleman concerned about the pool of sweat at the end of the treatment...I'll share what we do professionally to eliminate that discomfort. First lay down a large beach towel. Next lay a full size cotton flannel sheet down. Wrap with the sheet, then the blanket. This does not hinder the effectiveness of the treatment, but it does contribute to the overall comfort. After the treatment we launder the linens and spray the blanket with a disinfectant after it's cooled down. Hope this helps. Enjoy!

It would have been good to know that product couldn't be returned if used. Instructions were lacking. Not interested in purchasing from company again.

My new blanket was delivered sooner than expected date. Very easy to use. It takes a little time to heat up but when it does, You can feel the toxins pour out!!

There has been a plethora or research regarding Far infrared technology. I've had this product for 1 month and use it every day in the morning for 30 min. Far infrared has been studied by the Medical community in Europe, Japan, China, and more recently in the U.S.. I would suggest that a consumer starting to research FIR, review peer review medical journals regarding the benefits of this treatment. At first I could only tolerate 20-30 min but it can help detoxify toxins stored in fat cell. Promoting circulation and sweating out toxic substances at the cellular level. Far Infrared is light that cannot be seen by the human eye. It has the property of vibrating the cells safely producing heat, detoxification and promoting sweating. Further more promoting thermogenesis.
