I used the facial steamer for the first time today. After receiving professional facials, I expected it to emit hot steam. However, it only warms a bowl of water so the effect is much like putting your face over a bowl of hot water. The cold steam is powerful and though I let it run a while, it didn't rid itself of the factory smell.
Overall, it works better than a bowl of hot water because it constantly heats up but it is not professional grade. If you're going to spend $50, perhaps you should pay a little more for a more robust hot steam facial sauna.
PS: Readers beware: I think one of the reviewers is/wants to be paid by Revlon.

This product is a terrible face steamer. The hot setting barely hisses out any steam at all, but the cold setting creates such a powerful ion-cold-steam, that you choke from the "fumes"

 Pores do NOT "open" and "close"May 02, 2011

How many times do dermatologists have to say it? Pores do not "open" or "close"! They are stationary. They can get clogged with sebum but they do not open or close. I am tired of this myth being perpetuated by companies trying to sell products. This steamer may help loosen up the sebum and oils that clog the pores, but it will not open them and will certainly not "CLOSE" them!

STEAM IS ESSENTIAL TO THE FACE BUT EVEN BETTER ARE IONS. THE REVLON WARM AND COLD IONIC STEAMER DELIVERS. I TRIED IT OUT THE SAME DAY I PURCHASED IT AND ALREADY IVE WITNESSED IMMEDIATE RESULTS IN MY SKIN. PAY ATTENTION TO THE INSTRUCTIONS AND YOU SHOULDNT HAVE ANY PROBLEMS. SOME OF THE OTHER REVIEWS PEOPLE COMPLAINED, ALL OF THEIR COMPLAINTS HAD A SOLUTION AND IT WAS IN THEIR MANUAL WHICH PROVES THEY DIDNT TAKE THE TIME TO READ. FOR THE MONEY AND THE RESULTS ITS A STEAL. ITS NOT A HUMIDIFIER ITS STRICTLY FOR THE FACE SO DONT EXPECT MORE THAN THAT. I LOVE HOW ITS COMPACT IT HOLDS A MEASURED AMOUNT OF WATER AND ITS SIMPLE TO PUT AWAY.
