A spacious storage chest for your flatwareJul 25, 2007
By littlegull My wife and I bought this chest as an alternative to storing our flatware in the "silver drawer" of our buffet. The problem with the latter arrangement was that there was no way, apart from wrapping them in flannel, to keep the individual pieces from scratching each other. This Reed & Barton chest proved to be the perfect solution. It stores 12 knives on the underside of the lid, and allows us to stack the other pieces in such a way that they don't move around. The two lower drawers offer plenty of space for larger serving pieces. The chest itself is made of solid wood, except for the drawer bottoms, which are made of particle board lined with anti-tarnish cloth. This is a good investment for the safe and convenient storage of your silver flatware.

By D. Tahoe The chest arrived in fine condition and faster than the anticipated arrival date. The wood grain and finish are attractive, it is strong, well built and the piece can be displayed. Our chest will remain featured in the dining room. The roomy interior is nicely lined with anti-tarnish material. We were concerned that it would not hold all of our silver and thought two might be required, but were surprised that there was room left after a complete antique setting for 12 plus a lot of additional pieces. When full it is extremely heavy so you may want to be sure it's placed where you want to keep it before you fill it. We are very pleased with our purchase and it has drawn attention and admiration from our guests.
