4After a month of useMay 20, 2011
By Furinax
I bought this chair without seeing it in store or owning a massage chair before. I looked online but couldn't find any honest or in-depth reviews, so here I am making one that will hopefully make your decision. Pricewise, massage chairs are a luxury item. I know for sure money can be put to better use but in terms of relative value this chair is pretty good.

I got the cream version and it looks great. I would suggest getting a white glove service to set it up. The chair is bigger than I expected and needs a lot of room, especially for the zero-g function to work. FYI zero-g refers to when this chair reclines and changes angle, which is great because it makes the back massage more powerful.

MATERIALS: The chair is leather with a metal base. The material is great but I haven't tried cleaning it yet. The chair is shipped in pieces and is solidly built, although I can't say I feel fully confident it won't fall apart when I, say, try to get out of it while it's reclined. If you use it for what it's meant for, then it should be fine.

SHAPE: I'm a young guy (24, 5'9 and athletic) and I fit fine in the chair. The only thing I noticed is that the fitting isn't really designed well; your arms will feel weird because there is a clamp for your shoulders and you feel like you're stuffing your hands awkwardly into the arm clamps. It's hard to describe, but I think they could've designed it better. For someone who is taller or shorter, the zero-g function will automatically adjust to your height so that is no problem (I tested this with other young adults, but not with kids. My guess is that it should be fine for anyone from 5' to 6'3). If you are overweight, there is a bit of space but it might be tougher.

AIRBAGS: The chair touts its usage of tons of airbags. There are airbags for your calves, feet, hips, back, neck, arms, and shoulders. The biggest con of this chair is that the airbags for the calves are VERY painful! I have pretty big calves but even letting my skinny leg friends use the chair they feel the same. It will squeeze your calves to the point where you feel like it's about to explode, and I have the bruises to prove it (yes, they are actual bruises). Other than that, the hips, feet, arms, and butt (?) airbags feel great. The neck and back airbags don't really do much, in fact they are pretty unnecessary but it's nice to see they tried to implement some.

ROLLERS: The rollers on this chair are pretty standard. I haven't tried many other massage chairs but comparatively these are rather weak. You can increase the intensity via the controller or using zero-g, but in general the sensation is pretty mild, which is okay because if you're sitting for extended periods of time something powerful might be bad. There are a multitude of options and some are amazing (such as clapping). The range of the rollers is a bit stiff: you don't really feel it on your upper back due to the padding and it doesn't go below your hip, which I wish it would because I've had previous rollers go to the gluts and that feels really good. They do scan your back before the preset massages to get a contour, but who knows if that actually does anything.

HEAT: This is actually a pretty useful function, especially in the winter. When I bought this chair I wasn't really expecting a heat option but now that I've felt it I think it should be mandatory for all chairs of this class.

FUNCTION: The massage chair have preset functions which do air + rollers and also localized options. The display is very informative and easy to use, showing you where on your body it is massaging. It allows you to control the power of the air and rollers, as well as the speed of the rollers. It also comes with a mini remote control which I thought was a plus, though I don't really use it. The arm that holds the control board up is pretty flimsy and will be a bit annoying to set in the proper place. It also makes annoying beeps at certain times. However, the custom massages are pretty intuitive and you can avoid calf massages completely so it can deliver a pretty customized massage experience.

OVERALL: This product is great! In terms of what it has to offer, it probably tops any of the chairs you'll see in the mall and also does it at half the cost, although IMO these things are already overpriced. There is a warning not to use the chair for more than 30 mins due to overheating. There is an annoying timer which will shut off the chair but you can always add time, and I've used it for more than 30 mins no problem. Also the chair is prone to electric surges, so make sure to connect it to a good surge protector (or just unplug it when not in use). The only real cons are the size and the overly powerful calf massagers, but if you think you can fit and if your wallet can afford it, buy this chair!

1Squeeze your calves hurt very bad.Aug 31, 2011
By TMC "nivisionbat"
This chair has excess strenght power to squeeze and massage your calves and legs, it causes you really painful and have little bruise at your calf. They must recall and replace the calf section of this chair .
Update: I bought this chair at August 2011 and using it for 3 months, here are my honest reviews, the chair has a nice look, but it is not a Japanese owned company, just the name Osaki sound like Japanese, the airbags of this chair are too strong during the break in period, it might cause your calf bruised. The massage rollers are mild but become weak when it went down to the lower back ,even if you adjust to the max. Also there is squeaking noise during the chair operating. I am really regret to buy this chair, my advice to people should go to a physical store to have a trial of any massage chair before you buy it online.

4My cousin has one and I use it more than heJan 08, 2012
By Ryan Arnold
man, after a workout I love this chair! My cousin Justin has one. (He has more money than sense.) But for once, I'm thrilled he went overboard with his spending because I drop by on my way home from the gym. (I'm a workout freak.) I stikin LOVE THIS CHAIR! I have NO idea if the Shiatsu is enough to do my body any actualy physiological good but mentally and physically I sure can relax in it. I've gone to sleep in it after 5 mins more times than I can count. Now would I buy one? If I was wealthy, yea! But for now, I'll let him just pay the bills while I get the benefits. i can't see this chair as being worth the $2+ grand it costs but otherwise, it's a real joy.

5Great massage chairJan 28, 2012
By Scott S. Fowler
A little pricey but in this case you get what you pay for. Very nice, full body massage chair that looks great and is well constructed. I love the arm massage which of course you don't find in most chairs out there.
