Very niceNov 26, 2003

We've been looking to replace our stainless for a few years now, patiently waiting for the right set that balanced style, features, durability and value. It was tough as most of the sets we liked were very expensive - $20+ per place setting. We thought about a Mikasa set that is made in Korea, but we were not sold on the style and they were made of 18/8 steel; a lesser grade of stainless. We came across this set of Oneida at a local department store for $150 for the 12 piece setting. We agreed that it was the set we were looking for but we came home to see if it was available at amazon.com. We were delighted to find it at 1/3 lower cost - what a great buy! They arrived today and we could not be happier. 18/10 (same as the $20+ sets) and the same weight as well. GREAT FIND - you'll love them.

Cheaply made - it rusts!Jan 31, 2007

I bought this set about a year and a half ago based on all the good reviews here. However within a couple months after using the set and dishwashing them, they started to develop rust spots! I have been lazy about sending them back to Oneida for the lifetime warranty but it will be done for sure. Also note that the set is made in China. An older Oneida set of similar quality I have had for well over 10 years has never rusted and was made in the USA. Don't know if Oneida's quality control has improved since I purchased my set but I don't know if I will buy another Oneida set after this.

wonderful, versatile piecesMar 19, 2005

My husband and I just got married and we were looking for a nice, hefty 18/10 flatware set that would be suitable for both everyday use as well as when we would be entertaining. Upon doing an extensive search on the internet, I came upon Oneida's Satin Garnet collection. After reading all the product description and reviews, I was convinced we had found what we were looking for. So I placed the order in December 2004. They arrived about a week later and sure enough, we were absolutely delighted with our purchase. The pieces look wonderful and feel great in the hand...each feels very solid, quite substantial. After almost 3 months of usage, I still find myself admiring them! They do well in the dishwasher too, always coming out with a nice mirror shine. And the price here at Amazon.com can't be beat. I saw this same collection last weekend on sale at a department store for $150! All I can say is thanks Amazon for carrying such a great product at a terrific bargain!

Great flatware!Feb 03, 2004

Purchased this Oneida flatware and couldn't be more pleased! It has a luxurious, heavy feel and large proportioned pieces. The caddy tray is nicer than I expected and I'm storing the flatware in it. I recommend this to anyone looking for a truly delightful, large scaled, set of stainless! It shines!

I love this flatware!Dec 16, 2005
By P. G. Strawderman I am not a decisive shopper and feel compelled to do extensive "comparison" shopping. I am always thinking that there might be something better just around the corner (this can drive my family mad!). Therefore, in my quest for new flatware, I purchased three - yes, three! - sets of 18/10 stainless flatware on-line: Oneida Satin Camber from [...] and Wallace Rockport (102-piece set) from [...]. I was immediately disappointed with the Wallace flatware. Though it is 18/10 stainless steel and had matching serving pieces and extra teaspoons, etc., it seemed flimsy - I swear I could have bent the spoons in half myself! I also felt that the design was "blah." The Oneida Satin Camber set had a very pretty design and the pieces felt substantial in my hand. But talk about oversized - the fork and soup spoons were "ginormous!" And I was disappointed that I could not find any matching serving pieces for the Oneida Satin Camber. But then...the Oneida Satin Garnet flatware arrived - at lightning speed, I might add! - from Amazon.com. I love this set! The pieces are indeed substantial as other reviewers have pointed out, but our family is used to heavy flatware so they felt "just right" to us. The design is beautiful and the size of the pieces is perfect - not too big, not too small! I washed them in the dishwasher before putting them away in the accompanying wooden caddy - and they came out of the dishwasher looking shiny and spotless. This is a service for 12 with five matching pieces. Additional pieces are available at various places on-line, including [...]. All in all, I am very pleased with the beauty and durability of this flatware. And Amazon got them to me practially overnight! I am glad that I did some comparison shopping (even though it was a hassle returning the other two flatware sets, it was still worth the satisfaction of getting the set I really like!).
