Didn't match our 30-year old setsJan 07, 2011
By M. Fred After 30 years of use, our 68-piece set had become a 57-or-so piece set, so we ordered 5 place settings to replace the pieces which had gone missing (less expensive than ordering individual pieces). The new settings are quite different than our originals, differing in color, weight, backstamping, and (in the case of the dinner knives) construction. Correspondence with Oneida confirmed that they are probably genuine Oneida pieces. However, they're now made in Korea, Vietnam, Indonesia or China, so I suspect they have quality control issues. Oneida suggested I might return them if I was unsatisfied (which I am), but then I'd be back at square one, missing pieces. My solution is to serve more drinks before dinner, and lower the lighting in the dining room.

more accurate descriptionJul 10, 2007
By Meredith Willson I bought some of these pieces individually... Chateau salad forks and teaspoons...but they had been described on Amazon as being 18/10 stainless steel. I was disappointed that they were not as heavy as I expected. I see in this full place setting that they are described as 18/8, which is what I suspected after I received them. If I had known that, I'm not sure if I would have purchased them or not, but since they are described correctly here, I don't see why anyone would be disappointed in them.

FlatwareApr 10, 2007
By Carolyn Brown
"Retired Reader"
Oneida Chateau used to be a fairly popular flatware pattern a few years back, but can't be located in many of the usual department stores at present. It is not too frilly, not too austere, and as Goldilocks indicated "just right"!

Good price for this 5-piece Chateau place setting for one personAug 26, 2010
By Rosalie E. Stone The 2 star review on this item unfairly rates it. This is the best price I see on Amazon for the 5-piece place setting of the Chateau design, but people may be avoiding it because of the review by someone who must be unfamiliar with how place settings are usually described.

This set looks much better than the one I own!Aug 17, 2011
By Mile High Mike I was hesitant to buy this because I was concerned that the metal was different (from reviews of fake sets).
How wrong I was, this set is TOO beautiful! My original set looks worn out compared to what I received.
