Pricey but worth it!Mar 22, 2007

Child sized sliverware is nearly impossible to find. I looked all over before I found this set. We love it! It's perfect for my daughter who is two. It's REAL silverware but for smaller hands. The fork actually spears food! No worries about shap edges on the knife it has no "edge". The spoon has worked well for us. My daughter can grasp and manipulate it with ease. My only complaint is that for $15.00 you get one fork, one knife and one spoon. Overall a quality product!

3-piece child setJan 09, 2007
By Gloria D. Arnold I got this set for my grandson for Thanksgiving dinner because he loves to use the type of silverware that grownups use. He loved it. He's just 19 months but he felt so special. Of course we had to watch him carefully since he is still very young. But he tends to eat at the table and doesnt play that much. The flatware was such it blended well with my daughter's flatware.

Excellent flatware for our 4-year-oldAug 05, 2007
By Bluegrass Jewel We have been very pleased with the quality of this lovely Oneida flatware set. Our 4-year-old son uses it on an everyday basis and is proud of his "special silverware". It looks quite similar to our other Oneida pieces and is easy to take care of. I'm ordering another set to keep on hand just in case.

Best Child Flatware!Jul 22, 2007

The Oneida Chateau Child's Flatware is great quality, dishwasher safe and perfect size for my 2 and 4 year old boys. They match our sets perfectly and help our children feel like they have graduated from the baby stage to the little person stage of life. I highly reccomend this product for children who have passed the chewing on everything stage.

Large for toddlers but niceDec 16, 2010
By Warren J. Dew When our daughter was around a year old, she wanted to have the same tools as daddy and mommy had at the table. We let her use a tiny baby fork and spoon my mother gave us, and then later as she grew, a baby/toddler size fork and spoon that matched our wedding silver. She's two and a half now, and uses a fork and spoon almost as well as an adult, except where lack of adult strength is an issue. I bought this set because it's a bit of a pain to be washing the same fork between each meal, and I thought she might be ready for larger pieces.
The fork is 5.75 inches long, the spoon 5.25 inches, and the knife 6.75 inches. By comparison, the small fork in our adult set of tableware is 6.25 inches long. The total weight for the three pieces is just over 3 oz.; they are slightly lighter than our adult set, but it may just be that our set is heavier than an Oneida adult set would be.
The fork works well for our daughter; it seems long for a 2.5 year old, but the balance is such that she can hold it closer to the tines and still use an adult style hold. The proportions of the fork and spoon are better than competing options, such as the Danesco set at Danesco 3-Piece Stainless Steel Children's Flatware Set, Teddy Bear, being narrow enough to fit into a child size mouth. The knife is still a bit heavy for her, but would be fine for an older child.
For a younger child - especially a child under two - the smaller Reed & Barton set at Reed & Barton Children's Giftware MASTER 2PC BABY MASTER 2 PC BABY SET 4770 18/10 may be preferable. For three years old and up, though, this set seems the best option to buy.
