4Lenox Vintage JewelApr 08, 2011

After serching for a long time and ordering several patterns, I finally selected Lenox Vintage Jewel. I'll review them all here
1. Wedgwood Vera Wang Grosgrain. I really loved the pattern, and wanted to go with the Wedgwood brand because I inherited an old Wedgwood china service that I love. But, unfortunately the salad fork had about an inch of the pattern totally missing. I didn't re-order because for the high price I thought such an obvious defect shouldn't have made it to a customer.
2. Wedgwood Knightsbridge. This pattern was similar to the Vera Wang Grosgrain-- not quite as modern-- but nice and much less expensive, so I decided to give Wedgwood another chance. The spoon had the same problem as the Grosgrain salad fork! This time only 1/2 inch of the pattern was missing. And, maybe not a deal breaker, but irratating was that markings on the back of the pieces were mis-aligned. Just above the tasteful Wedgwood logo, but just enough off center to grate on your nerves was a large stamp "China". Clearly Wedgwood's manufacturing facility in China is having quality problems.
3. Towle Beaded Antique. These were the least expensive, but the quality was very good, and the design consistant and well executed on all pieces. They aren't as heavy weight as the Wedgwood, but certainly heavy enough and nicely balanced. I almost went with them. But, after the misaligned "China" stamp and poor quality on the Wedgwood pieces, I was put off by the big "Towle China" obviouly visable on the knife blade and decided to continue my quest.
4. Lenox Vintage Jewel. Funny, that I liked this pattern the least, but the quality is the best and the set mid priced compared to the others. The name Lenox is tastefully stamped on the knife blades, which are surprizingly sharp. The backs of the other pieces are stamped Lenox 18/10 -- Amazon's decription says 18/8, so that was another nice surprise-- and a teeny tiny almost unreadable stamp that says Vietnam. At least it doesn't shout at you that long time US company Lenox doesn't manufacture their flatware in the US (some of thier china patterns still are made in USA, so that's good). The pattern is well executed and the finish very bright and shiny. I've had them a couple of weeks now and washed them in the dishwaher with no problems. If I have one complaint, it is that the pieces are so large and heavy as to be a little clunky. This probably just takes some getting used to.

5Beautiful Flatware at Great SavingsJul 21, 2010
By Cabushka
Lenox Vintage Jewel was on a friend's bridal registry. I was thrilled with the price on Amazon compared to the department store where she was registered. With the 4 for 3 deal, I was able to purchase 4 place settings for the price of 2 at the department store. Plus, with Amazon Prime, I saved additional money on shipping and received the package in 2 days!

5Beautiful silverwareAug 28, 2011

This will be the last set of silverware you will ever need. The build quality and finish is top quality and will last for many years to come. I love the fact that they have a little bit of weight to them and do NOT bend. Great piece at a fair price. I don't mind paying extra when the quality is this good!

5WONDERFULJul 23, 2011

I have had this flatware for about six months and just love it. It is 18/10 stainless which means it has a nice weight to it. I always wash it in the dishwasher, and it remains shiny and hasn't scratched. The only downside is that it is made in VietNam. For Lenox, that surprised me a little.

3Be aware that this item is for one place settingJan 21, 2012

The other reviews were good. The description was sound. The price seemed right for a decent set of well made flatware for five. Woops, this is a five piece set, for one. That works out to roughly $8 per utensil.

I've returned this item and gone with another, but from what I saw of this set it was well made.

Don't make my mistake and buy this thinking it's more than one of each utensil.
