 Nice design, but not very durableJun 11, 2011

We registered for and received this set of dishes as a wedding gift two years ago. After having to leave them in storage while we lived abroad, we returned home excited to finally get to use our beautiful set of dishes. Unfortunately, only three months in, we have two cracked bowls and are hesitant to use them for fear of cracking the other ones.
The dishes are supposed to be microwave and dishwasher safe (as per the bottom of the dishes). Since we haven't dropped them or been overly heavy-handed with them, we can only conclude that they are not very durable, and probably should not be microwaved and/or used in the dishwasher.
We have contacted Lenox to find out if this is a common problem, and to hopefully receive some remedy for the problem. We could have gotten dishes from a faulty batch, but even still, we would not recommend these dishes to others.
I am rating this set 2 stars instead of 1 solely because they *are* very pretty, and the design is beautiful. I just wish they were more durable!

We have had our plates for over 6 months now and are happy! they are lightweight, durable and attractive. The color is great because it isn't stark (gray) white and not too creamy either. You can use them in any decor and mix and match with the other collections Lenox makes. I am also impressed that you don't burn your hands after heating things up in the microwave! Another big plus since I have had to return other sets for that reason (even after saying microwave safe). They are a little pricey but i think you get what you pay for! These will last for years to come and we wont have to worry about any chipping like we had with out other set.
