Great Pan, Wrong DescriptionMar 13, 2009
By Heidi D. I bought this pan off of Amazon through Chef's Resource a few weeks ago. I have made several things in it and all have turned out wonderfully. Once again, a great product from Le Creuset! The only caveat I have is that this pan is not stoneware as described. I assumed this when I saw it on Amazon due to the hefty price. I contacted Amazon.com by phone and found them to be polite, but not too helpful. I later contacted Chef's Resource, who was offering the pan on Amazon at the time, and they assured me that the pan was indeed cast iron. I hope that Amazon will make the correction in the title and description of this product. I would not pay this price for stoneware, but the cast iron is well worth it!

Five Star Au GratinJul 21, 2009
By jackzvt Le Creuset's Enameled Cast Iron Au Gratin Pans are a must have for the smart cook. I have had a few of these for years and they always come in handy. Few materials conduct heat so well in an oven as does cast iron and the nice thing is these are porcelain enameled which gives you only the flavor of the food without any metal contamination. These cook much better than their stoneware cousins and you will be amazed at the texture of casseroles and potatoes au gratin etc when using this pan. With these pans you are only limited by your imagination. Now you may think they are pricey but if you take care of them they will cook for a lifetime.
Clean up is a snap no matter how cheesy and messy the pan may become. Just soak in warm soapy water for 15 minutes and the mess cleans up quick. If you are especially lazy, like me sometimes--just line the inside with aluminum foil.
A great addition for any cooks kitchen. These also make a great gift to give or receive. Usually you can find these on sale for 40-50% off at some points during the year if you look.

Great DishFeb 17, 2010

"Life is too short not to take chances."
I love this dish. It's become the new standard in my kitchen. I previously used a Pyrex for baking, but this one just feels better. Cooks my roasted potatoes faster, more evenly and with a better browning as well. It's a great addition to my small but growing collection of Le Creuset.

Amazing addition!Dec 07, 2009

This item, like all from Le Creuset, is of highest quality. Makes for an elegant presentation at the table and really "wows" guests at dinner. Would highly recommend you get ahold of Tina Salter's excellent "Gratins: Savory and Sweet Recipes from Oven to Table." The combination of this stoneware and that book have made me seem like a much better cook than I am!

DisappointedFeb 22, 2012
By Mrs. Bear I was really looking forward to getting this baking dish. There is no doubt about the quality. It is a beautiful dish that will last for generations, like all the enameled cast iron products from Le Creuset but, unfortunately, I had to return it. I can't use it on my glass cook-top because the bottom of it is not enameled...it is rough, like unfinished cast iron. I wish they had mentioned that in the description and I wouldn't have wasted my time. It would work great if I had a gas range or regular electric burners but I don't want to take the chance of scratching my glass top. Too bad...I am disappointed.
