K4SSWH Owners bewareDec 08, 2008
By Pete This item works fine, good quality, etc. HOWEVER, if you are an owner of the K4SSWH 4.5 qt bowl lift model purchased at Wal-Mart's Black Friday sales, this WILL NOT WORK with your mixer! The model number of the mixer at Wal Mart is contrived, that model is actually a rebadged discontinued K5 Classic according to KitchenAid. You will need to purchase accessories intended for a K5, NOT a K45 (as one would assume). Hope this helps someone.

Seems a bit flimsier than original whipFeb 12, 2006

We just bought this as a replacement for one that came with the mixer almost 7 years ago. This is the right size for my model. I'm sure it will work fine (I only tried it in a dry bowl), but I'm having trouble with the seemingly lesser quality of this replacement whip. My original whip was 100% stainless steel and weighs 4.5oz. This new version has a connector socket that feels hollow, perhaps? It weighs only 3.3oz.
So if you are purchasing a replacement for an older whip, don't expect an exact replica (like I did). I'm trusting that this will work as well as my older one.

aluminum gets pockedApr 02, 2009
By B. J. Caldon This wire whip is a disappointment because it's not made out of stainless steel, as was the original. It's some form of aluminum which gets pocked when it soaks in dishwater. This happened the first time I handwashed it! Don't dare put it in the dishwasher.

Not nearly as good as the originalAug 29, 2011
By candice So far it has held-up however it must be wiped after every washing since the metal oxidizes.
I should have followed my gut and listened to the reviews because they were right...shame on Kitchenaid to only offer something like this.

JunkOct 08, 2010
By Steaphan Greene The hub of this thing is made of completely unprotected aluminum. Saying that is must be hand-washed is an understatement. This thing can't even be stored in a humid place - like a kitchen. Considering this is an attachment to a food mixer, intended to whip liquids, that is completely unacceptable.
Mine began to corrode only days after I got it. I only used it once, and I hand-washed and dried it immediately afterward. Then, it started to fall apart on my shelf (which was NOT next to either the sink or dishwasher). This hub should be made of a non-reactive material, like stainless steel, or at least anodized aluminum.
I can't believe this is made by the same Kitchen-Aid that made my (fantastic) mixer. They should be embarrassed to put their name on garbage like this.
If you need to replace your original whisk because IT corroded (like mine did), do NOT buy this or you will get more of the same. Wait for them (or a 3rd party) to come out with a proper version. Until then, get a hand mixer or stick blender.
Thanks to Amazon for making this so painless to return.
