Look great but cut poorlyDec 19, 2005
By K. Henry Nice looking set. I've never owned a set of knives that cut as poorly as these (at any price). The knives tear food and do not make a clean cut.

wonderful and reasonably pricedAug 09, 2005
By K. Nefferdorf When I set up my wedding registry, I knew nothing about knives and registered for the least expensive set they had at the store. I realize now that knives are one of those things where you get what you pay for. Knowing that, I'm genuinely surprised by how low the price is for these knives. We bought this set last week and it is a huge improvement. It's not professional quality but it's more than enough for the average cook. The knives cut like a dream and the handles are very comfortable. I love the santoprene - it's very similar to the OXO tools that the rest of my kitchen is stocked with; in fact these handles are a perfect match with the OXO SteeL collection. The steak knives look fabulous with my flatware, too, which is always a plus. Two thumbs up.

Chefs Knife Broke in Half on a PepperNov 29, 2007
By Dan Billings I bought this set almost two years ago. It's true that the knives cut sort of "funny". Not a real clean cut. But the kicker is, I was chopping a red pepper for some chili, and the chef's knife snapped in half! It was not under much force, and in fact the knife was barely used. These are not good knives.

KnivesMar 11, 2006
By Amy Y. Barnett I like the design of the knives. They just are not sharp. I have to push down real hard for them to cut anything.

Not worth it, even if it's cheapJan 30, 2007
By J. Van This is the worst knife set ever. The handles of the knives feel decent but the serrated blades don't cut well. It tends to shred instead. Like the other reviewers stated, my set also began to develop rust spots on several of the knives within the 1st month! My other knives...some also higher-end knives from Henckels... have never rusted and I care for all of them the same way. The best thing about this knife set is probably the metallic coated block that the knives are stored in. The knives themselves are totally lacking quality and they definitely give Henckels a bad reputation.
