2hope you have better luckDec 27, 2010

I purchased an X500 which is a bit larger but uses the same "friction" heating system. Spa arrived well packaged except the clips you have to install to hold the cover were not in the cover box. I filled the spa and it leaked. The manufacturer said that leaks from loose jets/return fittings were not covered by warranty and I would have to pay a tech if the leak was not in the underside plumbing. So much for quality and standing behind your products. Next it took 36 hours to heat 61 degree tap water to 100 degrees with an outside temp of mid to upper 40s and nights low 40s to high 30s. Getting it to 102 took about another 5 - 6 hours. Since the outside temps have dropped to low 40s day and mid 30s night it has not reached 102 again even with the cover in place and waterfall and air controls off. I purchased a floating thermometer and it reads 2-3 degrees below the spa readout. The manufacturer finally decided to send out a replacement control pack but I have yet to see it. He said when it arrives he will send a tech to install it. I have had this spa for a month and have not been able to use it. I drained it, removed and checked all the valves and housing for the umpteenth time and found an O-ring not in place and scrap plastic under one of the jet housing rings. I think I fixed the leak problem finally as tightening did no good. Well I have had a spa for the holiday season that I could not use, could not leave (had to keep adding water and chemicals), and have used about 6 months worth of test strips and chemicals and still cannot use it. If you are not a spa mechanic Dream Maker is definitely not for you. Maybe all of their products do not have this many problems, but BEWARE of any outside spa without an actual electric heater element. I have owned a Continental Spa since 1980 and it was 110/20amp and had a great heater. I never had to tighten a jet or do anything other than replace filters so maybe I expect too much of modern manufacturing.

I managed to pick up a used x-400 and from the minute I plugged this thing in I have been in awe. It does take some time to heat up initially but with the cover on easily gets to the top temp of 104. The seating is convenient for up to 4 average size adults (we even squeezed in 5 once with the use of alcohol). The best thing is you can wheel this thing onto your patio fill it with water plug it in to a regular outlet and your all set. As far as electrical bill I have been more than please and actually had a lower bill the first month having it than I had that month the previous year (probably sitting in the tub this year more than in front of an electric heater last year to get warmed up.....) We got it in Aug and were planning on storing it away for the winter... but its now December and we are still using it on a regular basis and it holds temperature long enough for a nice long soak even when its in the 30s out (longer with the bubbles off) but we are coming up on Jan and Feb in CT so we will see how well it holds up through the coldest weather.. But so far its been awesome.

This tub is great if you love to be immersed in your seat. Small but adequate for the money spent. Well made and great cover. I wanted a low heating bill and so I opted for this model and am pleased.
