I purchased an X500 which is a bit larger but uses the same "friction" heating system. Spa arrived well packaged except the clips you have to install to hold the cover were not in the cover box. I filled the spa and it leaked. The manufacturer said that leaks from loose jets/return fittings were not covered by warranty and I would have to pay a tech if the leak was not in the underside plumbing. So much for quality and standing behind your products. Next it took 36 hours to heat 61 degree tap water to 100 degrees with an outside temp of mid to upper 40s and nights low 40s to high 30s. Getting it to 102 took about another 5 - 6 hours. Since the outside temps have dropped to low 40s day and mid 30s night it has not reached 102 again even with the cover in place and waterfall and air controls off. I purchased a floating thermometer and it reads 2-3 degrees below the spa readout. The manufacturer finally decided to send out a replacement control pack but I have yet to see it. He said when it arrives he will send a tech to install it. I have had this spa for a month and have not been able to use it. I drained it, removed and checked all the valves and housing for the umpteenth time and found an O-ring not in place and scrap plastic under one of the jet housing rings. I think I fixed the leak problem finally as tightening did no good. Well I have had a spa for the holiday season that I could not use, could not leave (had to keep adding water and chemicals), and have used about 6 months worth of test strips and chemicals and still cannot use it. If you are not a spa mechanic Dream Maker is definitely not for you. Maybe all of their products do not have this many problems, but BEWARE of any outside spa without an actual electric heater element. I have owned a Continental Spa since 1980 and it was 110/20amp and had a great heater. I never had to tighten a jet or do anything other than replace filters so maybe I expect too much of modern manufacturing.

I went on vacation in Hot Springs, NC and the owner of the cabins had this type of spa in all of his units. I called him to get more info because both my husband and I loved the spa and had to have one for ourselves. Well we got one and we love it. It does take awaile to heat and the manual tell you that it takes approx 20 hours to reach 100 degrees based on 70 degree filling water. I had no problem with my spa keeping the water temp at 103 after it was heated. It takes very little chemicals and is alot easier on the electric bill than those spas that use 220v. So I am very happy with my hot tub so far. I have not had it long enough to see how well it keeps the water temp in the deep winter, but it is so light that I could always move it inside during the winter if necessary. If you are looking for a hot tub that is simple but does the job I would recommend this one.

I obtained a used 2008 eclipse, but it's basically the same parts in a bit different shell.
Ok the heating system I have is balboa heat jacket, which is easy to find parts for at the moment. The controller did go bad after sitting in the Florida sun for 3-4 year and it cost $90 bucks. I added a cover to solve that problem. The motors are the usual A.O. motors which are great and you can replace them with a refurbished for $80 when the time arises. My motor ran, but just to make sure I did not have to deal with a problem later I got a new motor for about $200 that screwed right in. You could easily buy a universal 220v heater/ motherboard and install it if you know how to glue pvc plumbing together to make a loop in the access compartment. That is if you want to blast the heat, or live in a very cold environment. Most Hot tubs use Balboa heating and electrical systems with A.O. motors, so universal systems are made for them at about $400 (topside, board, and heater). these parts are like cheese on a burger. so the components are fine, The heat jacket system is bit different than most though. I has a small probe that can add a little heat and the other probe has the temp sensor, but it uses the heat from the motors the most. With that said, I added a 1" layer of foam board from a box/packaging around the access compartment to keep the more cold air out. Although, if you run the tub in 70 deg. weather it will shut off after 5 hrs with that foam bc the heat will get so high it will trigger the motor to safely shut down as it should. I always fill my tub now from my garage sink with hot water straight from the water heater. In the morning I turn the water heater up high after showers, drain the tub, clean the tub after lunch, and fill with scalding hot water for 100 gallons with a little luke warm, and top it off 2 hours later with warm water again. I am always sitting in a fresh tub the same day and my hot tub doesn't have to spend the whole 24hrs heating. This is another reason why I like a garage sink, smaller hot tub, and for that matter a larger water heater :)
With 40 deg nights I think it comes on 3 to 5 times. I haven't stayed up all night but we were up later with the firepit a while back and only heard it come on once during the whole late night and I know it usually comes on in the morning and I hear it around dinner-ish when I am outside, so 6 to 10 times total for 15 minutes in 24hrs probably. When I am out of it, I don't run the waterfall as that would allow cold air to mix with the water easier, same with the jets. I do turn these things on when I am in the tub though. We have not seen our electric bill grow since using it which actually is a big surprise to me, especially since it's 110v. Maybe this winter is warmer than last thus overall it is evening out, but our bills have actually been less this year so how can I truly know with my digital/networked-in meter that I have not figured out how to decode, but I digress.
I like the water up higher, so with a my wife and I in the tub the waterfall is 2" :) The lighting is okay and changes. The air bubbles are the usual that come through a jet. It is missing a separate bubbling air system, but I forgot about that option until recently so obviously it hasn't affected my tubing. The waterfall cover makes for good drink spot. I put a tab each week on top of the filter and let it dissolve with the use of the water fall when I am in, and usual current the levels have been stable and good.=
I do wish the topside panel was a bit more impressive with cool designs and such like a demo running on a cd player. Topsides are cheap and easy, so why not make it look impressive, but I guess simple buttons work just as well.
Filters are $18 with Amazon prime and $17 plus shipping from other suppliers.
I would buy it again. Life has been easy with it, and that includes buying it not working; the topside literally plugged in like a Ethernet cable. Dream maker shipped the top side to me in 2 or 3 days and the people were friendly and willing to talk about stuff rather than just tell me to find a technician. I will buy from them again if I ever need a new tub. However, with how easy this thing is to move around I'll just keep it and roll it out to the truck and drive off with it to the new place. So I doubt I will need a new tub.
