3Does not work correctly out of boxApr 30, 2007
By Rick V "Rikity"
Out of the box, this unit will not function correctly. You will have serious problems with foaming beer because of 3 defects.

1. Temperature regulator does not sense liquid temperature. It is also located too close to the cooling plate and needs to be moved further away to get a more accurate reading.

2. The tower does not flow cool air and ambient temperature inside is much higher than it needs to be

3. The spigot is also non-conventional and doesnt encourage an even flow

As far as I know, mine doesnt make any noises at all so I'm not sure what the other review is referring to or if they have a unit that isnt working correctly.

All of the above problems can be corrected.

Temperature -

a) Purchase a new regulator and bypass danby's.

b) Move the sensor away from its current position and put it in water to get a more accurate "liquid" reading.

Tower - Install a small fan to circulate air into the tower

Spigot - Replace with a standard one

Unfortunately for Amazon reviews, i cant link to other information that will help you do all of this, but if you search for the name of the unit, links that will help, show up very high in the list.

1Too Loud and Bad ServiceMay 24, 2005
By Dry as a bone "Dry as a bone"
I bought this product at Home Depot and from the beginning it was extremely loud. The rest of the unit wasn't too bad it was a nice looking fridge. After only about 2 weeks I noticed that the temperature would vary between 32 and 45 (I had the setting set for 34) and the unit would not start cooling until it hit 45. After a few more days the unit failed to cool at all. That's where the fun began, serval calls later we finally had a service tech out who took it back to the shop... and that was 1 month ago - calls to Danby and the Service tech get answers of "we are waiting on a circuit board from China - should be arriving in a few weeks". I have sent e-mails to Danby with no returns. I have threaten to take it back to Home Depot and have been told that if I want to do that, I will have to pick it up from the service tech (15 miles away). Stay away from Danby!!!!

4Could use some workMay 19, 2012

Bought this kegerator because of the looks and reviews I read. No serious complaints as of now.
The temperature does jump up and down about 6-7 degrees but never below 34.
In the instruction manual it says to set the CO2 pressure to 10-12 psi, dont't do this. I messed with it from zero up and finally got it perfect at just 2 PSI.
Very simple to set up and looks terrific in my bar.
The LED temperature lights are awesome but really bright.
Very quite can barely hear it running.
Drip tray is just that a drip tray.
Have the option the remove the tap handle and put one of your own on.

4Excellent Midrange Kegorator with Room to ExpandMar 09, 2012
By sogrady "sog11"
I was almost scared off by the mixed reviews here, but after a friend said he'd had no problems with his, I took the plunge. After a couple of weeks, I'm comfortable saying that I'm happy with the purchase. I think that some of the reviews from four or five years ago may be outdated today, because it worked out of the box just fine for me.

I purchased this over the cheaper ~$350-400 units because it came with a full 5 lb CO2 tank, which means less trips to the refill center. I didn't go up and buy a dual or tri-tap unit because the unit's big enough to fit multiple pony kegs, and I can always drop in a replacement faucet with multiple taps later.

Delivery was uneventful, and the unit's heavy but easily movable by an adult of reasonable strength. The setup instructions aren't particularly well executed, but it's straightforward enough that I had no issues in assembling the unit with one exception.

After completing installation, I was getting no flow from the unit and went through the troubleshooting section with no success. As it turned out, the half of the check valve on the line to the keg coupler that keeps the ball lock from blocking the line had been dislodged during installation. If you have either no flow or just a trickle, I'd advise checking that first.

Otherwise, the kegorator's been exactly as advertised. I'm pleased with the unit and would recommend it without reservation.

5Best of BreedFeb 17, 2012

After purchasing a Nostalgia kegerator, which was a total piece of crap, I purchased this better model on the advice of a friend. We were immediately happy when we opened the packaging and found that this model came with a 5 lb. CO2 tank. This is hard to find with these $500-$600 models. This Danby was easy to set up and I love the digital temperature gauge on the front, I can set the temperature to the exact degree that I want.

I would highly recommend this model over any others in this price range. Don't bother with the lower priced models either.
