5Little Sleeper RadioJan 03, 2009
By C. Ingalls
Having recently purchased two of these radios I decided to compare it with a GE Super Radio 3. The Crosley actually had slightly better sensitivity (on the AM band) than did the GE. The selectivity of the Crosley is also the equal of the Super Radio on the narrow setting. I'm able to ferret out weak stations adjacent to powerful stations with ease. I did prefer the sound quality of the GE though. I rarely listen to FM but for the sake of this review I tested it with very good results. Even with the whip antenna collapsed reception was good. Sound quality was good but lacked bass. The Traveler is very sparton, with the bandswitch located in the rear. There is no dial light. I have seen this radio advertised with something called "Electronically Assisted Dial Tuner" but it makes no mention of this in the manual or box and tunes in the manner of all analog dials. Speaking of which; The biggest suprise is the very near spot on dial alignment on both ends of the dial. 700khz. is where it's supposed to be, and 1300khz. is where it's supposed to be. Rather a rare trait to be found on a low cost tuner. One more thing to note: Tuning is quite stiff and immediate. There is no "sponginess" when tuning typical of radios using dial cord. So I suspect (though cannot vouch for it) that it uses a geared tuner. Appears well made and runs off 4AA's or the supplied adapter. Weight is about 4lbs. So there you have it...a fun little inexpensive DX machine!!

5It's a great little radio, especially for the priceSep 26, 2011

I'm super-happy with my purchase of this little radio. It seems well-made and it sounds great. The only reason I gave it four stars on the sound was cuz I'm guessing most of us are used to having bass control, etc, and this radio doesn't have any of those kinds of bells and whistles. What it DOES have though is superb reception, better than any other radio I own, including my CC Radio (which turned out to not be such a great radio, after all, but I digress). And it runs for days and days on my rechargeable batteries (but did come with the cord to plug it in, which I use, too).

My only complaint is that the am/fm switch is on the back of the unit. And actually I barely care about that.

Just FYI re the color of it, it looks more tan-colored on my monitor than it does in person where it's more of a gold-tan. I like the actual color better.

I love this darn radio so-o-o-o much, I'm definitely getting another one as a backup.

5Not the greatest radio but for the price it's well worth it.Aug 30, 2011
By Larry W. Hagood
My grandma wanted a radio for AM talk. She's 94, she's sharp as a tack but simple and retro was definitely the objective here. And for this price, the radio was a perfect find. Reception is fine, sound quality is decent. It's kind of cobbled together but for this price, I'm very happy and so is she. Dial tracking is accurate and the option for running on batteries makes it a useful emergency radio. I wish the am/fm switch was on the front instead of the back. Other than that minor detail, I'm happy with it.

I love this radio. The sound is so clear the casing around the mechanics is solid and not going to fall apart. Would definitely buy from them again.
