FABulous!!!Aug 24, 2007
By Melanie Lynch I saw these reviewed on America's Test Kitchen as rating right up there with the more expensive knives. Who needs the more expensive knives? Not only do these knives slice through meat like, well, butter, but they are comfortable in my hand AND they can be had on Amazon for roughly 1/2 of the list price. Yes, you will have to eventually have to maintain the edge and sharpen them at some point, but if you appreciate good knives that shouldn't be an issue. I am very happy with this purchase.

Great steak knives!Oct 17, 2007
By Robert M. Bowers If you've been stuck with serrated steak knives, you will notice a HUGE difference in the ease of eating steaks. I bought these steak knives after being frustrated trying to slice a sirloin steak with a Kitchenaid steak knife; I'd seen them recommended by the folks at America's Test Kitchen (which is also the magazine Cook's Illustrated). WOW, what an improvement! These things go through tough meat like nobody's business. Serrated knives can rip and tear at the meat; these knives make smooth cuts with a much more pleasant look and mouthfeel.

nice straight edgeFeb 16, 2010

Pretty decent knives. I gave it 4 stars because the price was great. Walnut handles I find to work well for me as I don't like the synthetic feeling handles. Seem to hold up well. Blade can be straightened/sharpened. Well balanced but a little light feeling in the hand (prefer a bit heavier feel). Blades seem to resist stain pretty well (have a small spot on one probably due to gave up on hand washing only and have 'allowed' 2 of them to go into the dishwasher). Also use as utility knife and boning knife.
Would buy again if budget was the same.

Chicago Cutlery steak knivesJun 22, 2011
By Baruse For the price, you can't complain. But.....you get what you pay for. Chicago Cutlery steak knives are not the best. Having wood handles, you also must be careful how to wash and dry. I bought a set of 4, ten years ago. They rust, don't hold an edge, and must be sharpened regularly. IMO, buy a set of high end Henckels or Wustof steak knives instead. Spend the extra dime. In this instance, "you really do get what you pay for." Especially Wustof classic set of 6 steak knives. They are so well made, you can pass them on to your family's future generations of kids and grand kids!!! In fact, I just bought another set to share with my best friends! Baruse

Best value in steak knives out thereOct 31, 2007
By Steven E. Field America's Test Kitchen rated these their best value and we can see why - the wife and I have suffered for years from horrible, cheap steak knives and just thought that was the norm. We were ready to spend $80 on a set of 4 German ones, but these were given a high review by the Test Kitchen (who we trust and has steered us to some great products over the years.) They cut beautifully and work great. True, they don't look as neat as the more expensive brands, but we don't care - the money we saved on these allowed us to get a lot of nice steaks to cut and eat :)
