4Nice saucepot/steamer, if a bit heftyJan 09, 2007
By alcesito
I bought it replacing a cheap old stainless saucepan/steamer whose handle fell off (after 12 years ;)

This calphalon pot is actually a very nice size - the steamer is actually wide enough to handle asparagus spears with just the very tips broken off. The nonstick surface seems very durable.

However, it is pretty heavy, if that's important to you.

5Love it.Feb 12, 2007

It's big enough to boil a dozen eggs, and the steamer works great. The lid also fits my 10" Omlette pan. It cleans up great as well.

5Great steamerJul 15, 2007
By Rick A. Robertson "dogidog"
Pots with steamer inserts are not that common anymore. I like that this pot has a wider, shallower configuration than my previous steamer so the veggies cook more evenly. The glass lid means I don't have to keep taking the lid off, losing all the steam, to see when the food is done.

5A great productFeb 08, 2008
By Patty "amateur gourmet cook"
I recently purchased 5 pieces of Calphalon Contemporary non-stick cookware (individual pieces, not a set) and it's all great. This 4 1/2 qt. steamer/saucepan is great as well. I bought it from Amazon.com because they had the best price and free shipping. It's a bit on the heavy side, but is perfect for cooking pasta as it is deep and wide, creating good circulation of the water. It's also really good for soups. I like all the cookware I have purchased in this line. It heats very evenly and cleans up easily.

5nice muti-purpose panApr 20, 2007
By Jun Liang "cook john"
Just got this pan as a replacement of an 4 year old commerical 5 quart nonstick calphalon saucepot for about a month. The old one's bottom lost non-stick feature and we had to mail in it for replacement. The new one works perfect. We like the multipurpose feature - we use it to stirfry a lot, also steam veg and other products. Also, occasionally, we use it to make soup and bake things. The only thing we worry about is its nonstick feature. We try our best to protect its bottom, but you never know what it is going to look like after 4 years. Well, never cook over medium high, when stir fry, and always use wood utensil. Wash it throughly, or oil may build upon.
