5Bose is the Best!!Jul 18, 2010
Just recently bought the Sharp 52 Aquos, for football season, and the Bose system adds the sounds needed, easy to set up and I would recommend buying the stands for the speakers!!!

5A Good Fit, LiterallyJun 30, 2010
If you're looking to buy this somewhat expensive home theater setup, you're probably looking for something that is definitely going to last a long time and not take up a lot of space like most theater setups do. This is the perfect system in that case, IF it is within your budget.

Pros:
- Doesn't take up a lot of space.
- Easy to setup, with not a lot of wires going all over your room.
- Performance... this thing can shake your house, as expected with that price tag.
- The remote acts as a universal remote and is actually simple to use (I use it to control my Fios Set Top Box with ease).

Cons:
- Not very customizable with equalizer settings.
- The color is gray, not black... doesn't match my tv :(
- The speaker stands (sold separately) are like $80!!!! way toooo expensive!! i'll still to setting these on the countertop.
- No HDMI ports

Most of these cons are not deal breakers, so I'm still happy with my purchase (I've had this system for over a year now)

4Excellent alternative to high-priced audiophile systemsJun 16, 2010
I just purchased these for our family home theater room. I must say these puppies sound pretty, pretty, pretty darn good. They are warm, rich and offer fairly decent dynamic range. They don't have the "true" 5.1 surround but they do an awesome job at simulating it. I am extremely happy with my purchase. Comparable speakers and tuner in this price range? I don't think so...

4A simple solution....Jun 05, 2010
I managed to score this system used for $200. Even with such a great deal, I read through several reviews to see if it was worth the money. I read so many mixed reviews that I didn't know what to do. I took a chance on the set and figured I could resell it if I didn't like it.

I'm happy to say that the Cinemate will be staying with me. I was a little wary because my setup includes an HD/DVR and Blu-Ray player both connected via HDMI. This system uses RCA cables ONLY. This is not a system for audiophiles. What it is is a simple solution for those looking for improved sound. I connected this system to my Sharp Aquos LC-52D85U in my living room. I had previously been watching this TV with just the built in speakers. I'm not fanatical about sound so it was fine for general viewing but I did want to step it up a notch when it came to watching Blu-Ray movies and big sporting events.

I set the speakers up and connected the module to my TV. I then set my TV to "Variable" mode which shut off the internal speakers. It sounds great to me! I read many reviews that say you have to crank the volume to hear any bass. Not true. The bass just doesn't overwhelm you when the system is at lower volumes. That's the way it should be. Even at low volume, if there is a big explosion or other jarring moment, you'll hear the subwoofer rumbling.

I wouldn't buy this system at full retail. It's relatively expensive and you can arguably get much more for the money. I'd search for a good deal on a used or refurbished set. If you are looking to improve your home viewing and listening experience and you have a preference for Bose products, you WILL enjoy this set. If you need digital sound and all of that jazz go buy a full 5.1 surround system. If you're fine with a 2.1 system and better than average sound at this price point, take the plunge. I did and I like it very much. I listened to many sound bars at various price points and I didn't like anything enough to warrant a purchase. A 5.1 system is much more than I need for my space. The Bose Cinemate is just right.

1What a POSMay 25, 2010
Unit looks nice, sounds good, but if your using it with a PS3 just forget it. Everytime deep base hit the system would crackle like crazy. I called bose and they more or less told me i was SOL and that the system wasn't compatable with my PS3. Now I could forgive the system if it didn't cost me almost $500 but at that price the system should be near flawless, and it's simply not. I opted to return my unit and now have a Sony HTCT100 on the way for less then 1/2 the price.
